The south rim of the canyon is only 5 miles from a highway turn off that we have passed too many times to count.  I have seen pictures of the Black Canyon and it didn’t look that appealing to me.  It was time to see it now that we are on permanent vacation with time galore.  The canyon is fantastically beautiful and much deeper than imagined but impossible to take good pictures of.  There’s no resemblance between seeing the canyon in person and these photographs.
