Throughout Newfoundland there is a wide buffer zone on each side of the highway when going through forests.  On the northern peninsula people have made roadside gardens in these buffer zones.  I have read they do this so they won’t have to clear the land themselves.  The strange thing is that most of these gardens are as many as 30 miles or more from a town. 

 Bags are tied to the fences to scare moose away
