St. Elmo is a ghost town at the end of a narrow valley just about in the middle of Colorado.  This area among the Collegiate Peaks is one of our favorite places to visit because there is a lot to see and do and also not many tourists go here.  There is a lake along the way and even a waterfall. 

The Mt. Princeton Hot Springs has several pools with varying temperatures of hot water that comes out of the swift running Chalk Creek.  Steve and I used to sit in the creek along the edge where there are natural hot spots of water.  We haven’t been to the pool complex since it was renovated so I don’t know if we can still sit in the creek here.

There are small primitive national forest campgrounds along Chalk Creek.  Large RV’s would not be able to fit into these campgrounds but there are several RV parks nearby on the way to Buena Vista and in the town.
