Three weeks ago I had to go to the ER again in Mazatlan and was admitted with a complicated diverticulitis attack. This time I went to a different hospital and my care was day vs night from the February admission for the gallbladder removal. The ER doctor called in a gastrointestinal specialist right away who ordered a CT scan. Not good according to her and she said I needed surgery in a month after I am well. My experience has been that Mexican doctors treat me with more urgency than in the US which I like but not sure if it’s legimate. Case in point, I had either food poisoning or a virus at Christmas and the ER doctor insisted I be admitted. Six hours of IV’s had made me better and I told him no. Then he pulled in the chief of ER and I still said no. That bill for six hours was over $800 USD and this was one week before our new insurance covering emergencies out of country was in effect. The gringo dollar signs impact way too much of the decisions that are made and the prices we pay in Mexico.
I have a gastro appointment here in Colorado where we are now at the end of July and will find out more then. We could possibly be here for a few months. 😔.
In the meantime we are going to many appointments. Our insurance covers vision and dental here and we needed to get established with a family doctor. I feel more secure having US medical care as a backup for more serious problems.
My birthdays are usually a big nothing day. I should come here more often for July 1st. It was celebrated for three straight days here by my various family members.

The next day some of us went to the Nam Nam Thai restaurant for the best Thai food in the state. I forgot to take a picture.
