Smooth Sailing……..Not

We are in the middle of the Pacific, 7 days from Hawaii, and about 6 days since we left Manila. The ship was going to make a stop in Guam but there was a dire medical emergency with a passenger just as we cleared the most northern part of the Philippines. The ship turned back to meet with a coast guard ship but then turned around again a few hours later because typhoon Kristine was coming right at us and evidently the patient was stabilized. The backtracking as well as stormy weather mean we have to go straight through to Hawaii.

I think we skirted the cyclone on its north side. It was rough sailing for two days and nights.

Four days ago I tested positive for Covid. My first time and the only passenger on the ship with Covid. I developed severe gastrointestinal symptoms which developed into diverticulitis. I go to the medical center twice a day for antibiotics via an IV port.

And there’s more. I caught a virus on the plane from Qatar to Singapore so our time there was mostly ruined. I had to be treated on the ship for that which involved a nebulizer treatment a few times. I had two great days of feeling well before the fever with Covid began.

I previously wrote that I was done talking about medical issues. I jinxed myself.

Meanwhile here is picture from the stunning Singapore airport.

I will try and fill in the blanks later.
