Highway 450, also known as the Captain Cooks Trail, runs from Corner Brook down the Humber Arm and then opens up to the Bay of Islands. This drive is an absolute must on a sunny day. There are waterfalls coming off high cliffs on the left and the blue-blue Humber Arm on the right. We have driven to the end of the road on several bodies of water and peninsula’s now and I have to say that we start to expect that the scenery will become familiar or similar. It never, ever does. It’s always spectacular and different.
This is the same viewpoint I took a picture from the first time we went to Corner Brook a month ago when it was cloudy.
This picture doesn’t come close to capturing that the water looks like shimmery silk. It was absolutely still and so blue that it didn’t seem real.

Evelyn,
Thanks for sharing your trip, your pictures are beautiful. I know it's a labor of love to keep a blog. We miss Newfoundland and can't wait to go back. Enjoy that weather, it's been up to 103 degrees here in Columbus, GA

Clara, I didn't expect Newfoundland to grow on us so profoundly. We haven't even left yet and I'm thinking about our next trip. It's a great place to be during the dog days of summer in the lower 48. I hope it cools off for you soon and thank you for taking the time to write. Evelyn
