End of the Cruise

A grand entrance into Sydney was planned for early in the morning as the sun rose.  In the days before arriving we were asked to wear red, white, or blue on the deck and to wave little Australian flags in unison while singing Waltzing Matilda along with The Australian Girls Choir who would be taken aboard the ship at 4 am.  A helicopter flew overhead to record our arrival and a little boat sent up big sprays. The choir sang our national anthem as well as the Australian anthem.  What a memorable experience!! Legend 6

Legend 39Legend 83The Legend docked at Circular Quay where you can see ferries coming and going all day.  The opera house would be to the left and back just a little.  At this point we went in for breakfast, got our bags from the room and left the ship.  Our hotel is another skyscraper in the center of the city about even with the front of the ship and 3 blocks in. We walked to the hotel and stored our luggage until check in time.

We sat in the lobby for a while so that we could use the free internet.  This is when I uploaded the backlog of five posts.  There is one that you all might not have seen that is right before the Puerto Vallarta post.  So check it out for pictures of our departure from Long Beach.

There was a segment on the evening news about our arrival and the next morning there was an article in the Sydney Morning Herald.  I don’t know how long this link to the article will be valid but there is a nice picture taken from the helicopter:

  1. Now, that is a beautiful, grand entrance! What were your emotions getting off the ship? Was it your best cruise ever? How did you like being 26 days on board? Would love to hear your impressions. Beautiful pictures- Wow!

    • Tessa, 23 days was too much in an interior room but we would be happy to cruise even longer with a balcony. Emotions? It was a beautiful day and we were chomping at the bit to explore Sydney.

  2. What a great trip! I just read all the way back to Yuma to refresh myself on the older posts. I feel like I’ve been on a mini-vacation. Sorry you were both sick for a while, but it looks like you had a wonderful time. Love all the beautiful photos. 🙂
